| BPM Conferences - Australia |
September 10th 2007 |
The second half of 2007 seems to be the time for conferences for process professionals in Australia. The number of conferences related to BPM, Six Sigma, SOA, Enterprise and Systems Architecture has been increasing over the last couple of years and continues in 2007. It is great to see the all industry sectors and Government departments (both state and federal) maintain a strong profile in presenting their successes at many of these conferences. Process Days 2007 - August 27-29 - SYDNEY I only attended one of the days this year to announce the BPTrends Forum and it was evident that the innovative presentations of previous years continue to be a feature of this conference.
BPM 2007 - September 24-28 - BRISBANE An academic and research-based conference held this year for the first time outside of Europe. A key goal of the conference is to provide a forum for presentation and exchange of research results and practical experiences in BPM. The program provides for an interesting mix of academic research and industry experience.
I am on the program committee for the 1st International Workshop of Management of Business Processes in Government and the 1st International Workshop on BPM Governance.
Achieving Interoperability in Systems Architecture - October 3-5 - SYDNEY The relationship between BPM and SOA is a popular topic of conversation and papers for those of the Business and IT disciplines. This conference is covering topics including:- Back to Basics
- Understanding where SOA fits into your organization (inc. a BPM and SOA presentation)
- Designing and building appropriate web services
- Adopting appropriate strategies post-implementation
- There is also an International keynote case study from Bell Canada
Capitalising on Business Process Management - November 26-28 - MELBOURNE The last time a BPM Conference was held in Melbourne was 2004 so this one is well overdue. This conference will include presentations from the public and private sectors in Australia and New Zealand. It will cover topic areas including:- How to prepare you organization for BPM
- Evaluating your BPM strategy
- Analysing the human factor: people, change and governance
- Guiding your organization towards process excellence, and
- Looking towards the future
I will be chairing this conference and running a half-day post-conference seminar on Integrating BPM and Process Improvement for sustained transformation.
