| The State of BPM 2008 - Australian Demographic |
March 12th 2008 |
On Thursday 28th February 2008, six Australian BPTrends FORUM Chapters linked-up in a special event to hear Paul Harmon present on the state of BPM based on the recently released BPTrends Survey - The State of Business Process Management 2008 .
The event was the first of its kind for the FORUM and overall a successful one. There were 122 people across the six chapters (including a small contingent from Tasmania) who participated in the hook-up. A question/answer session allowed for one question from each location; answered with aplomb by Paul Harmon especially considering he had no advance notice of them.
The event overall rated as "very good" with key strengths including:- The comparison between Australia and the rest of the world
- The session provided good information overall context on BPM in relation to areas of interest between USA/Europe and Australia
- Q&A session through the hook up
- Technology used worked very well, simple and effective
- The presentation was good because Paul discussed the Australian perspective
The presentation content rated very highly as did Paul's responses to the questions which was a hard ask considering they were 'off the cuff'. A common theme appreciated by the members in attendance was the fact that Paul discussed the Australian perspective specifically. The level of engagement was high and we had some great suggestions for when we next run such a session - both logistical and content based.
This special BPTrends FORUM event will likely be the first of many and was made possible with the assistance of the Local Chapter Chairs, the hosts (WA Water, KPMG, QR, BHP-Billiton, CBA, Tibco Software) and BHP-Billiton for providing the audio link that made it all possible. Thanks also, of course, to Paul Harmon for taking the time to create an Australian demographic analysis of the BPTrends BPM Survey.
