| BPM Goes to Hawaii! |
April 23rd 2007 |
The 41st Hawaiian International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS) will be held on January 7-10, 2008 and will feature a 'minitrak' on BPM from Dr. Olivera Marjanovic of the University of Sydney. This is a major international multidisciplinary conference on system sciences sponsored by IEEE and has been going on since January 1967 (some 40 years).
As part of the minitrak Oliveria states that "While the term BPM is most frequently used to describe technologies for BP automation, in recent times, business leaders are increasingly recognizing the need for a more holistic approach to BPM... However, the current BPM research remains mainly focused on BPM technology". Olivera is passionate about BPM and says that she "is really keen to include industry practitioners and further encourage collaboration between the BPM industry and academia." Something that the BPM is also passionate about.
The BPM minitrack aims to address this important research gap by adopting a holistic view of BPM, as promoted by the leading business practitioners, rather than the more widespread technical view of BPM.
It will cover the emerging issues, ideas, challenges and solutions created at the crossroads of various BPM aspects including strategy, people, business processes and systems.

The Conference site and Call for Papers can be found here - the deadline for paper submission is mid-June.
Olivera is a BPMG Professional Member, CPM-P (designate) and active participant in our BPMG Sydney Chapter.
